My youngest is just a little over six months old now, which means I’ve been slowly starting to introduce her to solid foods. I haven’t quite broken out our baby food maker yet, mainly because right now my focus is still breastfeeding. With my second youngest we mostly did the baby-lead weaning for feeding, so I’m still kind of leaning that way this time too.
Thank you to Double Duty Divas and for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.
With introducing a little one to solid foods comes the fun task of… You guessed it, stains! Okay, so really its not at all fun, but it’s something us parents have to deal with anyways.
Thankfully, there’s a really easy and simple solution to getting out those pesky food stains.
You know that moment when someone shares one of those parenting tips (that you don’t think about beforehand) that’s so simple and useful? The kind of tip that you think, “Ah ha!”?
Well, here’s one for you: DAWN.
Dawn dish soap is awesome at cutting out grease in the sink, butas the ultimate secret weapon for cleaning messes throughout your home from kitchen surfaces, to laundry pre-treating, to greasy tools, or car wheels and bike tires… nothing beats Dawn at getting them clean.
Now that baby has had a fun lunch of avocado (which is her favorite right now!), it’s time to for a quick clean up and change.
Leaving her onesie like that ruin it. So it’s important to treat it right away.
- Remove any remaining food.
- Apply Dawn directly to any cotton/polycotton fabric*.
- Cover the entire stained area, and rub it in using your fingers.
- Wash it normally with Tide in your washing machine**.
See how incredibly easy that is, yet saves your precious baby clothes?

*For best results, use a little less than two teaspoons (9.5 mL) of Dawn in a top-loading washing machine – be sure not to use too much, and don’t use on delicate fabrics like silk. Spot test with a small drop in a less visible area to make sure the material will not be damaged.
**HE washing machines can be sensitive and cycle times may vary.
