It’s almost Spring time here, and it’s just a matter of time before our outdoor allergies start to kick in. While we can’t necessarily control what happens outdoors, we can help control it indoors.
Here are a few easy tips to help reduce allergens in your home. Some steps may be more effective than others, depending on what particular allergy or allergies you have.
1. Leave your shoes at the door
Shoes can track in all kinds of dirt, pollen, and even fesis (yuck!). Get a shoe rack or something similar to help store shoes next to the door.
2. Keep Pets clean
Bathe them often, clean their paws, and if possible try to keep them out of the bedrooms. Check out Honeywell Air Purifier’s new Allergen Friendly Pet list for the best pets for allergy sufferers.
3. Use an Indoor Air Purifier
This Honeywell Compact Tower is perfect for smaller rooms like offices, bedrooms and kitchens. The Honeywell True HEPA Compact Tower features a convenient filter check reminder and an easy-dial control with three settings for customizable air cleaning.
4. Use dust-mite-proof covers & wash regularly
Using dust-mite-proof covers for your pillows, mattresses and box springs will help with indoor allergies. It’s also a good idea to wash sheets, pillowcases, blankets and comforters at least once a week in HOT water. If possible, choose bedding made of synthetic materials.
5. Clean your home with natural cleaners
Fresh air, vinegar, baking soda and hydrogen peroxide are the most basic items you’ll ever need to clean the house. If you can, open your house windows once a week for at least 15 minutes, and skip costlier chemical cleaners by making your own ecofriendly ones.
6. Get symptom relief
A mixture of sinus-friendly Chinese herbs, like Rootology, can temporarily halt most allergy symptoms in less than 20 minutes. Rootology’s concentrated herbal extracts offer immediate, non-drowsy nasal & sinus support against head colds, chronic conditions and allergies to irritants like: Pollen, dander, dust, mold, pollution, chemicals and wildfire smoke.
