The Home Depot, in effort to get ladies more interested in DIY projects, offers this really cool workshop each month, called Do-It-Herself. All geared specifically for women to attend.
Each month is a different project, like how to make a succulent garden, how to make a chore chart, how to lay tile, and how to install a bathroom faucet. As you can see, a variety of workshops from decor, crafts, to home improvement projects.
Last month, I had so much fun attending the Do-It-Herself for how to create a custom monogram wreath.
I was really surprised to see only myself there, since it’s such a beautiful holiday project. The Home Depot instructor said that some workshops tend to have a great turn out, while others not as many. Just really depends on the day, weather, and what’s going on.
I have to say, it was kind of fun being the only lady to show up. Since there wasn’t anyone else there, the instructor not only showed me how to make the monogrammed wreath step by step, but we actually got to make a “W” at my request, and I even got to work with the power tools myself to make it.
If you haven’t used power tools ever, this is perfect for beginners. If it’s been a while, in my case, it’s a great refresher. If your an expect, then it’s a good excuse to test new tools!
What made the experience truly enjoyable, was that the instructor was very helpful in answering my questions and aiding me in tips about the power tools. There was even another lady there who was also a Home Depot employee, who was learning how to make a wreath as well. It almost felt like a lady’s night out, because we were having so much fun.
In reality, one of these workshops would make a great night out with friends!
Here are the tools and materials you will need from Home Depot to create your own custom Monogram Wreath, along with the steps and pics of my finished project.

So cute right?!
See the Christmas tree in the photos above? That too was on display at the workshop. It was incredibly easy to make and inexpensive too.
The white ones in the wreath are the same brand too, just all white. These lights are AWESOME and my new favorite ones. They’re battery operated, and once you turn them on they are set to stay on for 6 hours, and off for 18 hours. No having to remember to turn them on and off each day.
The next Home Depot Do-It-Herself workshop is in January – It’s Time to Get Organized… Learn to Build a Storage Trunk!
During the workshop, you’ll learn to use power tools in home improvement projects, determine ways to get your home or office more organized, understand how to select the right tools for the job, and learn to build a Storage Chest/Trunk with instructions in partnership with Furniture Maker and Blogger, Ana White.
