I love being able to work from home, not commute, and still be able to take care of my children – instead of someone else taking care of them. But working from home can be stressful too.
My husband, he get’s to get up before the kids are awake, enjoy his breakfast, and his quiet commute to work. While he’s there, sure he may be thinking about us, but he can completely focus on just work – for the eight hours he’s there.
Me on the other hand, working at home is NOTHING like that. Maybe if I woke up earlier than the kids, I’d be able to enjoy a quite breakfast, but I don’t. My day is usually something like this: wake up, get girls ready for the day, take Carleigh to school, come home, check emails, drink coffee, take care of the little ones, work, pick Carleigh up from school, make lunch, do chores, work a little more, then Nick gets home and it’s family time, dinner, bed time, then work some more.
Beyond those days, we have play dates, speech therapy, the gym, and not to mention our weekends are crazy. On the days I’m just slammed with work and need something to entertain the girls while I’m busy working, I either turn on Netflix, or give them a craft to do.
They are usually content with just paper and markers/crayons, but when we get to make new crafts, they go crazy. Case in point, this Too Cute Closet – paper doll set.
Bonus, this isn’t one of those crafts that you make once and call it a day. They’ve actually been playing with it everyday since they put it together.
Another fun kit from Alex Toys that the girls have been loving on is the Sparkle Tattoo Parlor. I love this way more than those cheap press on tattoos. Not only is the glitter super adorable, but you can reuse the stencils over and over again. Fair warning, the glitter is a little messy. But who doesn’t need more glitter in their lives?
Besides crafts, Alex Toys also has a ton of do-it-yourself type kits for kids, toys for babies, and way more than I can list here. They even have Eco Crafts, which is a plus. Check, check, check it out at alextoys.com.
I received a couple of kits from Alex Toys. All thoughts are my own.
