If you have more then one kid, like twins, or just younger ones, having a double stroller can come in handy. I love our double stroller, we got last fall, right before our youngest was born. However, it has been more useful for short trips to the store and mall.
Since becoming a Mamavation Mom earlier this year, I have been trying to make an effort to go to the gym and walk to the park with the kids.
Towards the beginning of the Summer I walked to the park with the girls in tow, which was about a mile and a half from our house. Honestly, our double stroller just didn’t cut it. Many of the local side streets don’t have side walks, and going on and off the curb was not the easiest. So I looked into getting a double jogging stroller.
That same week, I saw Leah (@bookieboo) post about getting a Baby Trend jogging stroller for #babybookieboo. She, and many others, said many great things about Baby Trend, I knew I really wanted to try one out for myself.
I reached out to Baby Trend about their jogging strollers and they were awesome. They have been so kind to help support me and my effort to become healthier and trying to reach my goals. And I honestly can’t thank them enough.
This, my friends, is our newest double stroller. The Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger.
I have to admit, I have been kind of a slacker lately trying to get some good use out of it. But thankfully schools starts back up in a couple of weeks, and since it’s within walking distance, I will be using this jogger at least a couple of times a week, if not more.
The Expedition Double Jogger comes in 13 different color combinations. Ours is the Baby Trend Elixer Expedition Double Jogger, which has this beautiful dark purple accent color.
Now, this isn’t a lightweight stroller, by any means. It’s wide, as any other side by side double stroller. And it does take up a lot of space in our van. But, it’s super easy to open and close, and I can even lift it into our van one handed, while holding the baby. Super mom skills right there. It does have these handle bar type grips, which make it easier to hold with two hands.
There are few specific features, that I really love about the Expedition Double Jogger.
The Seat Belt
Not only is it extremely easy to clip the child in and out of the seat belt, but I really like that it comes in a 5-point harness for little ones OR you can unclasp the top straps, and have it be just a lap belt for older children.
lap belt only
Multi-position seat recline
Most strollers I have owned have all had the seat recline with a drawstring in the back. Not this one. I was very happy to see the Expedition Double Jogger use a buckle strap instead. For me, those drawstrings would loosen over time and make it more difficult to keep a heavier child upright. Not with these buckle straps! Instead you clip it and tighten it.
You can see here, my oldest is sitting in the upright position and the little one is laying in it, in the farthest down position.
The shade canopy on the Expedition Double Jogger is great. It folds up and down easily, and locks into place. Even more importantly, you can move the canopy a few clicks down, to cover the kids better, depending on where the sun is coming from. This helps wonderfully in the summer time. On top of the canopy is also a peek through screen, so you can see the children when you are using the canopy.
The parent tray on the jogging stroller is perfect for me. It has two cup holders and a covered storage tray. You can use the storage tray to put your phone, keys, and you can even plug in your mp3 player or iPhone to the built in speakers, and listen to music. I managed to clip my purse onto the tray even. Not all of the Expedition Double Jogger’s have the built in speakers, so make sure you double check with each style.
Some other great features on the Expedition Double Jogger are -
- Storage bins underneath – while they are not huge, they are the perfect size to hold change of clothes, toys, snacks, and small bags
- Bicycle tires – more efficient and higher quality then typical plastic wheels
- Locking wheels – keep it in place when on a slop
- Easy to maneuver onto and off curbs – as well as off pavement and onto dirt and trails
- Over sized Fender – which can be used as an extra seat when stopped
- Hand strap – lets you have an extra grip on the stroller when jogging
The only downside to the Expedition Double Jogger is not being able to click in an infant seat for the baby. Thankfully, she is big enough now to put her in it. They do recommend you use their Expedition Double Jogger with children 6 months and older, up to 50 lbs (each child) or up to 42″ in height.
If you want that specific feature, they also have the Navigator Jogger, which comes with two child trays, which can be used with two Baby Trend Infant Car Seats
Besides a double jogger, Baby Trend also makes single joggers, as well as car seats, sit and stands, single strollers, and tons more baby and kids gear and toys.
If you’re looking for a double jogging stroller, I highly recommend giving this one a try. You can pick one up from any of these local retailers or online, for right around $199, which is a great price for a double jogging stroller.
Special thanks to Baby Trend for sending me a double jogger to test out and use. All thoughts and opinions are my very own.
